FIX: We Couldn’t Create A New Partition Or Locate An Existing One

How To Fix Error “We Couldn’t Create A New Partition Or Locate An Existing One” in Windows 10/8/7

Step 1. First thing first, start Windows setup via a bootable USB, CD or DVD. And then get to the point where Windows requires you the location to install. When the error occurs, press SHIFT+F10 keys to open Command Prompt.

Step 2. When the Command Prompt window opens, run these commands one by one:

diskpart

list disk

select disk X (X: Select the system disk you use)

clean

create partition primary size=5000

format fs=ntfs

assign

active

list volume

exit

Step 3. Then, change directory to the USB flash drive, in my case cd d:

after that you need to copy all the Windows installation files from USB drive to C: drive xcopy d: c:/e /h /k

Step 4. You can now close Command Prompt and unplug the installation USB drive from computer and restart. After that, start the installation process again.

This time error “We couldn’t create a new partition” will not happen.
