Method 1. Restart the Windows Update related Services
Step 1. Click Start menu and type “cmd“. Then right-click on Command Prompt in the result and select Run as administrator.
Step 2. In the Command Prompt window, type the following one after the other and press Enter:
net stop wuauserv
net stop bits
This will stop the Windows Update Service and the Background Intelligent Transfer Service.
Step 3. Navigate to the C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution folder and delete all its contents.

Step 4. After you have emptied this folder, you may restart your computer.

net start wuauserv
net start bits
