How To Reinstall Microsoft Edge In Windows 10
Step 1. First, close all instances of Microsoft Edge.
Step 2. Open File Explorer, click View then tick Hidden items box to view all hidden folders. This is required as some folders such as AppData are hidden by default.
Step 3. Go to the C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Packages folder location in File Explorer.
Note: Replace “UserName” with your user name.
Step 4. Find the folder named Microsoft.MicrosoftEdge_8wekyb3d8bbwe and delete it. When you click or press Delete, you might get the confirmation dialog. Click on Yes button.
If you cannot delete, right-click on it and click Properties. Here go to General tab > Attributes, uncheck the Read only check-box. If need be, use Ultimate Windows Tweaker 4 and add Take ownership, to your right-click context menu. Then right-click on the package and click Take ownership from the context menu.
Step 5. Once you have deleted the Edge package, open an elevated PowerShell prompt. Click Start menu and type “Powershell“. Then right-click on Windows PowerShell in the result and select Run as administrator.
Step 7. In the Powershell window, type the following and press Enter:
Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers -Name Microsoft.MicrosoftEdge | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register “$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml” -Verbose}
Step 8. Once the command is executed successfully, you will receive a “Operation completed for” message.
Step 9. Restart your Windows PC.
Other method: Reinstall Microsoft Edge to fix problems
You can download Reset_Microsoft_Edge.zip, extract the Reset_Microsoft_Edge.ps1 file. And then run it with PowerShell.
Step 1. First, close Edge browser.
Step 2. Click this link to download the Reinstall_Microsoft_Edge.zip file. Save the Reinstall_Microsoft_Edge.zip file to your desktop.
Step 3. Using Winzip or Winrar to extract the Reinstall_Microsoft_Edge.ps1 file of the Reinstall_Microsoft_Edge.zip file.
Step 5. Right-click file Reinstall_Microsoft_Edge.ps1 and click Run with PowerShell.
Step 6. Now you will see PowerShell quickly open and close to run the commands.
Step 7. Once it is done, restart your Windows PC.
