How To Manually Install Drivers in Windows 10

1. First, download and install the free version of Driver Easy on your PC. Download Driver Easy for free click here.

2. Launch Driver Easy and click Scan Now. Driver Easy will then scan your Windows 10 PC and detect any problem drivers.

3. In Driver Easy, select the downward triangle next to Update for the driver you want to update, and then choose Open File Location.

4. If the file has a “.exe” extension, just double-click it, and follow the on-screen prompts. If not, copy the address to your clipboard by clicking the address bar and pressing the Windows logo key + C.

5. Moving on, open Device Manager. You can press the Windows logo key + R at the same time, type devmgmt.msc in the run box and click OK.

6. When the Device Manager window opens, expand the categories and find the device that you wish to update the driver for. In our example, we’re searching for NVIDIA driver, which is in the “Display adapters” category.

Note: For some devices, the device name shown in Driver Easy may be different from what’s shown in Device Manager. If you’re in doubt, click on the device name in Driver Easy. The Driver Information box will open up, displaying the full device name that you should be searching for in Device Manager.

7. Right-click on the device name and select Update driver.

8. Choose Browse my computer for driver software.

9. Paste the location address you copied in step 4 into the location field, then click Next.

10. Wait until the driver installation process completes. Once the driver is installed successfully, a window will open up and tell you to know Windows has successfully updated your drivers.

If you see a message saying “The best drivers for your device are already installed”, don’t panic. Occasionally, Windows thinks you already have the latest driver when your computer does not. This is quite common and especially happens with older devices. If you see this message, you can still update the driver:

1. Press Windows Key + R then type devmgmt.msc in the Run dialog box. Click OK to open Device Manager.

2. In the Device Manager window, expand the categories and look for the device that you wish to update the driver for. Right-click on the device name and select Update driver.

3. Choose Browse my computer for driver software.

4. Select on Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer.

5. Select Have Disk…

6. Paste the address you copied way back at step 2 into the location field. Click OK.

7. Click Next.

8. If you see the following warning, just click Yes to finish updating the driver.
