Have you recently installed WMware Workstation and noticed that you’re receiving wired error messages? Then maybe this brief blog post will be of assistance to you.

Error 1VMware Workstation and Device/Credential Guard are not compatible. VMware Workstation can be run after disabling Device/Credential Guard

You’ve just finished installing VMWare and are ready to use it, but VMWare Workstation / Pro refuses to start, displaying the following error:

VMware Workstation and Device/Credential Guard are not compatible. VMware Workstation can be run after disabling Device/Credential Guard. Please visit http://www.vmware.com/go/turnoff_CG_DG for more details.

Solution 1

I understand why it does not make sense. Why should you disable Credential Guard (CG) in order to run a virtual machine? Anyway, if you disable CG and Vmware still refuses to start, or if neither CG nor DG is enabled and the workstation still does not operate,

Please be sure to turn off/disable Hyper V, as both of them do not like to work together, unlike Windows 8.

You may simply disable it with the command below:

bcdedit /set hypervisorlaunchtype off

or you might go to Control Panel\Programs\Programs and Features\Turn Windows Features On or Off and from there untick Hyper V

Error 2 “The Operation Was Cancelled by The User”

Now that your VMs are up and running, let’s imagine you want to make a configuration change in the VM or start your VMWare Workstation, but it keeps giving you the “Operation canceled by YOU” message. Alternatively, for any other cause (which I have not yet encountered), simply go to the solution and implement the simple repair.

Solution 2

It will work if you simply close your One Drive. Yes, I realize it was too easy to come up with this one.

To do so, follow these steps:

Open OneDrive app. Then, select Close One Drive from the Settings menu.

PS: If you wish to re-enable your Hyper V, run the command below.

bcdedit /set hypervisorlaunchtype auto

Don’t forget to restart your computer.
