Method 1. Start Age of Empires 2 in compatibility mode
If Age of Empires 2 won’t launch, you might need to run Age of Empires 2 in the compatibility mode. To do that, follow these steps below:
Step 1. Right click Age of Empires 2 shortcut and click Properties.
Step 2. When Property window opens, switch to Compatibility tab.
Step 3. Next, you check Run this program in compatibility mode then choose the operating system from the list.
Step 4. Lastly, click Apply > OK to save changes.
