In this article, learn how to fix to the issue which you experience while upgrading to Windows 11 through the Windows Insider Program and you get the error “Something Went Wrong, We Aren’t Able To Talk To Our Service Right Now“. Just follow all the steps one after another and you’re good to get rid of the error.
If you’re using Windows 10 Home then you’ll not have the Group Policy Editor (gpedit.msc) function. To enable that, please follow this guide and then go ahead with the steps below:
Step 1.
Windows Resource Protection could not start the repair service is an error which may occur if you are trying to run the System File Checker tool (SFC /SCANNOW) to scan and repair Windows system files. To resolve this error, we suggest that you follow the steps below:
1. Press the Windows + R keys to open run command box. Then type services.msc in run box, and press Enter.
2. In the list of services, search for the “Windows Module Installer.”
3. Then double click on the “Windows Module Installer”, then set it to “Automatic” and start the service. Click on Appy > OK.
4. Restart your system.
After the restart, you’ll be able to run the sfc /scannow command without any problems.
Step 2.
1. Press the Windows + R keys, then type gpedit.msc in run box, and press Enter.
2. Go to the following path:
Computer Configuration \ Administrative Templates \ Windows Components \ Windows Update \ Windows Update for Business
3. In the right pane of Windows Update for Business, double click on Manage preview builds to edit it.
4. Select Enabled. Click Apply > OK to save changes.
5. Close the Local Group Policy Editor window.
Step 3.
1. Press the Windows + R keys, then type gpedit.msc in run box, and press Enter.
2. Go to the following path:
Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsSelfhost\Applicability
3. In the right pane of Applicability, look for the EnablePreviewBuilds string.
If you don’t have it in there (which was my issue), the next steps will show you how to create one easily.
4. Right-click in the white space and select New/DWORD.
5. Name it EnablePreviewBuilds.
6. Right-click the new entry created and Modify. Change it from a 0 to a 1.
7. Reboot your system.
Step 4.
1. Press the Windows + R keys, then type gpedit.msc in run box, and press Enter.
2. Go to the following path:
Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\DataCollection\PreviewBuilds
3. Right-click in the white space and select New/DWORD.
4. Name it AllowBuildPreview.
5. Right-click the new entry created and Modify. Change it from a 0 to a 1.
6. Reboot your system.
