How to Fix YouTube Error 400 Error

Method 1. Clear the cookies from Chrome’s settings

1. Launch Chrome.

2. Open Settings, click Advanced and then access Content settings.

3. Go to Cookies, then click See all cookies and site data.

4. In the search-bar from the top-right of the page, type “youtube“. All the cookies related to YouTube should display. Select only the faulty ones called gsScrollPos-[4-digit number] or click on Remove all shown.

After doing that, check if Malformed or illegal request message still happens.

Method 2. Clear cookies using Developer Tools

1. Open Chrome, go to YouTube page.

2. Now, on your keyboard press Ctrl + Shift + I to open the Developer Tools.

3. In the Developer Tools, click More > Application.

4. In the left panel, under Storage, expand Cookies, all the cookies should display.

5. Delete the gsScrollPos-[4-digit number] and the issue should be gone.

After doing that, check if Malformed or illegal request message still appears.

Method 3. Other general fixes

– Go incognito on Google Chrome

– Replace the direct link with the video id.

– Clear your cache and cookies from Clear browsing data in Chrome.

– Reinstall Chrome.
