5 Ways To Fix “Can’t Connect To This Network” on Windows 10

In this article, I will show you how to fix “Can’t connect to this network” message in Windows 10, while trying to establish Internet connection.

Windows 10 will automatically connect to the known WiFi networks whenever you’re in their range. However, sometimes Windows 10 won’t connect to known networks automatically. In such a case, you need to connect to wireless network profiles manually. But, the manual connection would not work as expected, and the following error message appears on the screen:

Method 1. Run Windows Network Diagnostics/Network Adapter Troubleshooter

If you’re receiving the “Windows 10 can’t connect to this network” error message, it’s probably there’s something wrong with your network adapter. Under such a case, you can try to run Windows Network Diagnostics/Network Adapter Troubleshooter. To start the diagnostic, follow these steps:

Step 1. Go to Control Panel (icon view) > select Troubleshooting > Click on View all.

Step 2. Click on Network Adapter to open its wizard.

Step 3. When the troubleshooter window opens, click Advanced and tick Apply repairs automatically option. Then click Next to find and fix problems with wireless and other network adapters.

If the troubleshooter founds an issue network, it will automatically try to resolve it.

Method 2. Forget the wireless connection

If you’re having “Can’t connect to this network” error in Windows 10, you might want to delete your wireless network profile in order to fix this problem. To delete a wireless network profile in Windows 10, follow these steps:

Step 1. Press Windows Key + I to open Settings App. Then select Network & Internet.
Step 2. Locate Wi-Fi section and click Manage Wi-Fi settings.
Step 3. Under Manage known networks, select the Wireless network you want to delete. Then click on Forget.

After you’ve done that, connect to the same wireless network again.

Method 3. Use Network Troubleshooting Commands

To solve “Windows 10 can’t connect to this network” error, you could also try to run the network troubleshooting commands. To do so, follow these steps below:

Step 1. Click Start menu and put “cmd“. Then right-click on Command Prompt in the search results and click on Run as administrator.

Step 2. When the command prompt window opens, type the following commands in the listed order and then press Enter:

netsh winsock reset

netsh int ip reset

ipconfig /release

ipconfig /renew

ipconfig /flushdns

Step 3. You can close Command Prompt window and reboot your computer.

After restarting your computer, you can try to establish your network connection to check if it works.

Method 4. Disable IPv6 on your computer and router

In order to fix the Windows 10 can’t connect to this network bug, sometimes you have to disable IPv6 network protocol. To do that, follow these steps:

Step 1. Press Windows Key + R then put ncpa.cpl in Run dialog box and click OK.

Step 2. When Network Connections window opens, right-click on your network adapter and select Properties.

Step 3. Uncheck the Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6) check box and click OK.

Step 4. Restart your computer to save the changes.

Method 5. Using Network Reset

If all above methods don’t help you, go ahead with manual Network Reset.

Step 1. Press Windows Key + I to open Settings App. Then select on Network & Internet.

Step 2. Scroll down till you see the Network reset link and click on it. Then click on the “Reset now” button to reset the network.

Step 3. Restart your computer.
